Medicare & Social Security “Full Funding Dates” Extended

In this months AARP Bulletin, under their Medicare update they talked about the financial health of the trust funds that help pay social security and Medicare Part A. They state that the benefits improved slightly in the past year, apparently due to a stronger economy than had been forecasted.

As a result, the date Social Security's trust fund would lack the assets to guarantee full benefits to its 65 million users was pushed back a year, to 2035. And the date Medicare would no longer have 100 percent of the dollars for inpatient hospital care for 64 million beneficiaries was extended two years to 2028.
